Why does a "Government" get to decide this issue? Why can't consenting adults of any sex just get married? Marriage is a legal contract and is important for benefits while both are living and, especially for the surviving spouse after the death of his/her counterpart. I never wanted to marry. And I told this to an older woman, a lawyer/boss, one day, and she told me that marriage was very important if I was going to invest in my relationship with my partner vis-a-vis the law. Gay partners have no rights and this is not fair. I am not gay/lesbian but I respect them just as they respect me. These people need the same rights.
